History
The company started life in the Ahir family kitchen in North London in late 1979.
Premises were soon hired in Stoke Newington and the mother company, Makevale Ltd,
was established in 1980 and specialised in dental products. Subsequent years saw
the company expand rapidly in production and consequently relocated to its current
site in 1986. This new facility allowed the company to expand its manufacture of
not only premium quality dental polymers, but also
medical
and
industrial
polymers including
biopolymers,
interleavant polymers
and
cast acrylics.
In 1999 a facility was acquired in Blackpool to increase the polymer production
capacity and extend existing Makevale product lines, merging the Adicrylâ„¢ range
of products.
An extensive five-year modernisation programme of both sites has allowed the efficient
manufacture of consistently superior quality products, at a high output capacity,
for an extremely competitive market.
From 2000-2005, the owners actively grew interests in distribution companies
PCM & St George. In 2006, Dr Val Ahir was joined by his son, Dr Samit
Ahir (DocS).
In 2008, the company integrated many of its core functions and streamlined its business
operations by deploying a dedicated Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system running
on SQL, much like SAP.
In 2007, as part of its strategic growth plan, the company decided to build an entirely
new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in India to facilitate its growth and
develop the Asian markets. The new factory & distribution node is planned to open
in 2009.
